    The NET/SET coordination committee of the college had organised a two-day training program on how to prepare for competitive examination like NET, SLET or SET. Dr. Manoj Kr. Mahanta Principal Bajali College emphasised the importance of the such examination from various perspective. Prof. B. K. Das member secretary from SLET commission was chief guest in the event who also acted as a resource person in one technical session. Prof. J. C. Kalita Dept. of Zoology, Gauhati University was also one of the resource persons in the event who spoke how to prepare for such an examination along Mr. Upakul Mahanta Dept. of Physics Bajali College who talked about few problem solving methods on General paper. Almost fourty five no. of students participated in the event. In the valedictory session certificates were distributed amongst the participants.

    By celebrating World Philosophy Day each year, on the third Thursday of November, UNESCO underlines the enduring value of philosophy for the development of human thought, for each culture and for each individual. UNESCO leads World Philosophy Day – but does not own it. It belongs to everyone, everywhere, who cares about philosophy. The Department of Philosophy, Bajali College too, had also celebrated this, with this year’s programme in line with the International Day of Tolerence. Jagadish Choudhury ex-Principal Bajali Higher Secondary School was invited to deliver a talk in this context. His talk highlighted the need for new philosophy practices in today’s world, encourage dialogue on the connections with tolerance and explore new ways to increase accessibility of philosophical teaching and learning.

    It was a red letter day in the history of Bajali college as four books were released here. Published by the Publication cell of the college, printed in its own press and edited by Dr. Binita Bora DevChoudhury, “Bajalir Oitizya Aru Sanskriti” is a book which highlights the historical and cultural background of Bajali. Along with that three other books “Samay Aru Samoyik”,Natya-Nriyta” and “Nirbachito golpo Aru Onnyanna” were also released. Noted novelist Dr. Basanta Kr. Bhattacharya, Sampurnanada Talukdar, President GB, Murari Mohan Dutta were present there. Dr. Manoj Kumar Mahanta, Principal Bajali college highlighted the importance of such activity on a broader perspective.

    A talk on Sexual Harassment at Workplace was delivered on 12th November 2016 by Dr. Polly Vauquline Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Women Studies, Gauhati University at Bajali College. She talked about the various forms of sexual harassment that can occur at workplace which can be reported to the ICC of the respective Institution. She talked about the rules and regulations in constituting the ICC and also about the Sexual Harassment Act. It was a very lively event and students along with faculty members interacted a lot.

    The department of Zoology, Bajali College has made a humble attempt to convene a Parents –Teachers-Students meet today on 8th Nov, 2016 in the conference Hall of the department. In the meeting, progress of the courses taught so far and academic performance of the students of Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Higher Secondary level were thoroughly discussed. Principal of the college, Dr. Manoj Kr. Mahanta, in his speech stressed the need of the effective communication between guardians and college and student’s awareness and responsibility towards maintaining the healthy and hygienic environment of their institution. Dr. Mukunda Sarma, Principal of Bhabanipur Anchalik College urged the student community for leadership role in the country’s development. Alumni from the guardians recalled their memorable days as a student in Bajali College. Parents and teachers thoroughly discussed about likes, dislikes, special skills, personal strength and weakness, special need and care etc. of the students. The department appreciated the parent’s active participation and committed to implement their valuable advice and suggestion for overall development of the institution. Parents unanimously opined that considering the non-availability of P.G. seats, the current seats in the college should be increased from the current sixteen to twenty along with 50% reservation for the college quota. Head of the department Ranjit Kr. Dutta, presided over the meeting and Assistant Professor Dr. Akshay Kr.     Adding another feather to the cap of the Department of History, Bajali College successfully organized the ‘Hemanta Kumar Sarma memorial Lecture’ in memory of late Hemanta Kumar Sarma, former Head of the department of History and Ex- Principal i/c of Bajali College on the topic “Importance of the Study of History and its Popularization in the Present Day Context” on 10th November, 2016. The program began with lightning the candle and floral tribute on the photograph of late Hemanta Kumar Sarma. Mr. Arindam Talukdar, the current HOD of the Department of History, Bajali College presided over the meeting and Dr. Jogesh Kakati, Principal of Pandu College delivered the keynote address where he stresses on studying history from various dimensions and also the benefit of reading this subject. Dr Jogesh Kakati threw light on the unorganized syllabus compiled by GU and requested to plan down a new one to connect the dots of historical timeline. He interacted with the students and introduced many new career prospective to the students. Dr. Manoj Kr. Mahanta, Principal, Bajali college, Dr. Pradyumna Sarma, HOD Department of History, Nalbari College also delivered their lectures on this occasion, teachers from various High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges of greater Bajali attended this memorial lecture and appreciated the venture initiated by the Department of History, Bajali College.

  • Workshop on ” Job and Self Employment Opportunities “

    A one day workshop on ” Job and Self Employment Opportunities” for students of Arts Science and Commerce streams of Bajali College was organised by the Placement Assistance Cell in collaboration with IQAC on 6th of September 2016. It was conducted by noted Career Counsellor of Assam Mr Ranjan Baruah. Dr Manoj Mahanta, Principal Bajali College and Coordinator IQAC Mr. Arindam Talukdar were also present in the workshop. Mr Barua outlined the various opportunities and scopes existing both in Govt. n private jobs and the life skills required to be an entrepreneur and also how to start business to be self employed right from zero.Students from different streams specially from 5th semester participated in the workshop. It was a very interactive workshop where the students took part with much enthusiasm. The welcome address was given by Principal Dr Manoj Mahanta and it was anchored by Convenor of Placement Assistance Cell Mrs. Ritu Barua.

  • Dr. Bhupen Hazarika remembered on his fifth death anniversary

    Glowing tributes were offered to legendary Assamese singer Bhupen Hazarika by Bajali College on his fifth death anniversary. A small function was organised at the college premises by the students union, the college fraternity offered floral tribute at the portrait of Bhupen Hazarika who, through various songs contributed in cementing cordial relations between different parts of the country. In this connection Department of Assamese also released one poetry book too named “Arohan” and Department of TTM also paid tributes to the legend.

  • A one-day awareness program on Road Safety and Traffic Rules held on 4/11/16

    The rapid and significant development of road infrastructure makes it very important for enforcement personnel and highway professionals and common people too, to remain abreast of global best practices and technological developments in the field of road safety. In view of this Bajali College had organised a one day awareness program on road safety where Mrs Subho Laxmi Deka SDO Civil spoke on the occasion. Attendees of this had learned about practical policies and solutions that be applies successfully to improve road safety. A special focus was given to speed enforcement, traffic management, and police leadership. Attendees also learned about Road Safety Audits and how they can be applied to help prevent hazards and reduce accidents.
