Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2018, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” is a call to action for all of us to come together to combat one of the great environmental challenges of our time. In this connection, a sequence of programs were organised by the institution in association with Assam Science Society, Bajali Branch and Prakriti-Ek-Prasesta to create awareness in the locality. Flag hoisting by Dr. Manoj Kr. Mahanta followed by a cycle rally (Cyclothon) inaugurated by Mr. Ananda Khataniar, Director, Green Mission, Bajali. The awareness program was organised in Titka High School where Dr. Dipjyoti Kalita, Dept. of Chemistry gave away a lecture which mainly concentrated on how we can make changes in our everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution on our natural places, our wildlife – and our own health. Then in the concluding session plantation and sampling distribution were done. Dr. Jyotismoy Bora, Dept. of Geography, Mr. Apurba Talukdar, Dept. of Physics and Mr. Parag Barman Dept. of Economics along with the members of Bajali College students union (BCSU)  deserve credit for making the event a successful one.
